Things we learned today

Today was yet another adventure. We started off the morning bright and early at 7:30 so that we could ensure we would get the free breakfast that came with the hostel. It was your basics: bread and cereal, nothing to write home about (lol). Then we headed out to the Louvre. We spent a good while there wandering out checking out the various exhibits, seeing everything from Egyptian art to an Easter island head. It wasn't as crowded as we expected but it was still pretty packed. From the Louvre, we walked to Notre Dame. On the way we stopped and Kelley had a caricature done, which pictured her shopping and in a skirt (lol). Notre Dame was lovely and the windows were amazing, especially the rose. Mass was being held while we there so that proved relatively interesting. Afterwards, we sat in the park where we were approached by a very aggressive gypsy demanding money. We caught the metro to the sewers, which were of course smelly and altogether eww, but we humored Kelley. We were going to head to the Eiffel Tower but the weather turned a little south and it started to drizzle, get crazy wind, and turn even colder. Overall, the weather has been comfortable. We sleep with the windows open which is downright impossible in Texas. So now I sit in my squeaky bed and write this while we take a little break off our feet. I would have posted this but I had some issues with the Internet and my time ran out before I was able to post today and yesterday's blog. So there should be a huge set coming on the 8th. Tomorrow, we are going to Versailles and should hopefully hit either the Arc de Triomph and Champs Elysees or the Eiffel Tower, whichever one we don't get to see tonight.
So we went to the Eiffel Tower tonight. On our way we stopped and grabbed some sandwiches and had the first cokes we had in a long time for that caffeine boost. We ate them in a park under the Eiffel Tower which was pretty cool. Then we waited in line for about 30 minutes to get tickets to the 2nd level of the Eiffel Tower, Kendra is a chicken and afraid of heights so this was a major accomplishment for her. It was really breath taking how much you could take in and just how dense the city was. There was just so much to view from up there it is impossible to list them all. But after seeing La Bulee's Lady (aka a mini statue of liberty), we decided to take an adventure to see her too. We were able to stand right under her which was pretty darn awesome.
Things we learned today:
The metro lights going out, pretty scary.
The metro stopping in the middle of a dark tunnel next to an unused metro, pretty darn scary.
P.D.A. is apparently majorly accepted in Paris, among all ages. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with that...because that's just pretty damn awkward.
Tools are always tools no matter where they are. We overheard a conversation walking back from Notre Dame discussing a guys relationship status. This girl he is "dating" has her facebook status as listed "in a relationship" but he has yet to change his status.
Pigeons are like souvenir salesmen, they won't go away until you shoo them or say no sternly.
Americans are fat because we have the luxury of driving everywhere, while I like the idea of not being fat, I rather enjoy the luxury of being in my own peaceful car without people invading my bubble.

PS forgive the spelling (spellcheck isn't working)
